¶¶Òõapp¹ÙÍø’s position as a front-runner to help take Queensland to the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games has been further bolstered, with three of the newly-appointed Organising Committee Board members possessing strong ties to the University.

This exciting news came less than a week after new university rankings revealed ¶¶Òõapp¹ÙÍø was second in the world for Sports-Related subjects.

¶¶Òõapp¹ÙÍø Vice-Chancellor Professor Deborah Terry AO said it was fitting OAM, from ¶¶Òõapp¹ÙÍø’s Business School, had been named amongst the final members to make up the Board of the Brisbane Organising Committee for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

“Dr Kelly is an award-winning sporting expert, known across the globe for her research, teaching and consulting, and it came as no surprise she has been named on the team to help take us to the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games,” Professor Terry said.

“Last year she was awarded an Order of Australian Medal for her services to sports administration and tertiary education, and having now been selected by the Commonwealth and Queensland governments to the Board is an amazing achievement.”

Professor Terry also congratulated two ¶¶Òõapp¹ÙÍø alumni who had also been named on the Board, including alumnus AO, who will be the Board’s President, and Brisbane businessman and alumnus Brett Clark.

“Mr Liveris has a wealth of experience and knowledge that will help ensure Queensland is ready to host the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games,” she said.

“We are so fortunate Mr Liveris continues to have strong ties to ¶¶Òõapp¹ÙÍø.

“Mr Liveris and his wife Paula have supported ¶¶Òõapp¹ÙÍø’s innovation and leadership initiatives, including the .

“We have also named our new chemical engineering building after Mr Liveris to acknowledge his exceptional achievements and his consistent advocacy for ¶¶Òõapp¹ÙÍø.”

Professor Terry said ¶¶Òõapp¹ÙÍø Alumni Brett Clark, who is ePharmacy’s Managing Director, is well-known for his strong philanthropic and community work and will be a great asset to the Board.

“Mr Clark’s business experience as managing partner of Chemist Warehouse stores in Queensland will be extremely valuable to the Board and will help ensure the economic benefits of the Olympics and Paralympics will be widely felt.”

Last week’s QS World University Rankings by Subject showed ¶¶Òõapp¹ÙÍø is in prime position to help ensure Queensland can stage a successful 2032 Games, with world-leading rankings in sports-related subjects, hospitality and leisure management.
